Let’s start with WOW. I had the opportunity of a lifetime while I was in Atlanta. At The Porsche Drive Experience Center, take what you learn to the street, and to the highway, good or bad weather. Thank you to everyone at Porsche and A Girls Guide To Cars, I was able to live out a dream and am more excited then ever to learn more.
The Porsche Drive Experience Center
As we drove into the parking lot of the Porsche Drive Experience Center, we were in awe. First off, it’s the headquarters for the Avengers, in the movies that is. But the size and sheer size of the building is amazing.
Farm To Table Lunch
We were greeted with badges that had our names on them and then whisked away for a farm to table meal that was tasty, and healthy. I could have eaten a whole bowl of the veges, they were that good.
The desserts were beautiful and perfect to end the wonderful meal we had.
Learning The Rules
After lunch we were taken to a conference room where we learned what we about to experience. The driving coach explained what cars we would be driving, what to expect out on the track, and told us to remember to have fun, there is nothing to stress out about.
Learning To Drive In A Simulator
Half of us were taken to the simulator, and half of us went to the track. I am so glad I got to experience the Porsche simulator first, it really gave me a feel of what I would experience out on the track, even though I didn’t win and kept hitting the pit row. learning to use the break got a little easier as I went, and I hoped I would take that lesson to the real track to. Though if you ask my dad, he would tell you I only know the gas peddle, HAHA.

The Experience Of A Lifetime
Now it was time to hit the track. The awe of these beautiful powerful machines made me stop and take it all in. Dreams were coming true today, and I wanted to enjoy every single one of them.
911 Targa 4 S
My first Porsche Experience car was the 911 Targa 4 S. With it’s 420 horse powered engine, and it’s sleek features, I must say, I was pretty giddy. The driving coach helped me get comfortable in the vehicle and gave me a few tips on how to drive something so low to the ground. Remember, I drive a Jeep for my every day travels. I’m not use to not being able to see over the hood.
Keep Your Eyes Looking Forward
This was my first lesson, don’t worry about seeing the ground, look forward in front of the car, it will help you handle better. My second lesson was to relax, and I am a pretty relaxed person. But I have to tell you, I was very excited.
Driving The Track
We drove around the track for 5 laps and then we headed to what I would say was my favorite part of the experience, the Launch Control.
Launch Control
This was one of the best experiences of my life. It was so exhilarating, and wow, did I learn a lot.
How do you use Porsche Launch Control?
Steps to Use
- Depress the brake pedal to 100%
- Quickly depress and hold the accelerator pedal to 100%. You MUST pass the kickdown notch.
- The revs will hold at the preset launch control RPM. …
- Release the brake pedal quickly and keep the accelerator at 100%.
- Enjoy!
After my second Launch Control I was able to see how I did. This is a pretty cool feature in the Porsche 911 Targa 4s.
The Driving Coaches At The Porsche Experience Track
I love that my driving coach was so experienced. We talked a lot about what he has done, the fact that he knows my favorite driver, Chase Elliott. I learned that all of the driving coaches at the Porsche Experience Track were either former race car drivers, or are still part of the racing community. This of course peaked my interest, as I am a huge racing fan.
Time To Take It Off-Road
After the fun on the track, it was time for some off-roading. I am a Jeep owner, and I have off-roaded before, but this was truly off-roading in luxury. It was certainly the smoothest off-road excursion I have ever experienced. But our driving coach didn’t hold back.
Make A Wake In The Water Crossing
The Porsche Driving Coach drove forward and backwards and up and down on this track. We drove through mud, water, and pretty rugged areas of the track. While driving through the water, our coach explained that while driving through high water, the Porsche actually pushes the water out of the way.
